Using Off-Limits Companies to Protect Client Relationships

Learn how to build and manage your agency's Off-Limits Companies list in the Compliance Centre, and how exclusions are automatically enforced across every campaign.

Written by Terence Cassidy

Off-Limits Companies lets you build a protected list of companies whose employees should never be targeted in your candidate outreach. Admins manage the list once, and it is enforced automatically across every campaign — so your client relationships are protected by default, not by chance.

Where to find it

Go to the Compliance Centre in the sidebar and select the Off-Limits Companies tab. This is your agency's single source of truth for company exclusions.

Building your agency-wide list

You can add companies to the list in two ways:

  • One at a time: search for the company and add it directly from the Off-Limits Companies tab.

  • Bulk import: upload a CSV file to add multiple companies at once.

For each company you add, you can:

  • Tag it with a reason: Active Client, PSL, Protected, On Hold, or Strategic Partner.

  • Add an internal note to explain the exclusion (visible to your team, never to candidates).

  • Search, filter, and remove entries at any time.

🤓 Tip: Use the reason tags to keep your list meaningful over time. Filtering by "Active Client" or "PSL" makes it easy to audit exclusions during team reviews.

How exclusions are enforced

Your Off-Limits list is applied at every point where you build a campaign audience:

  • Prospect search: contacts at off-limits companies are excluded from results.

  • Data upload: contacts at off-limits companies are filtered out on import.

  • Send time: a final check runs before any message is sent, blocking any off-limits contact that may have been missed earlier.

On the Target Audience step of the Campaign Wizard, excluded companies appear as read-only pills. Each pill includes a Manage link that takes you directly to the Off-Limits Companies tab if you need to review or update an entry.

Per-campaign exclusions

Recruiters can also add one-off exclusions scoped to a single campaign, without changing the agency-wide list. These work as follows:

  • They apply only to the campaign they are added to.

  • They appear alongside the global exclusions on the Target Audience step, clearly labelled as campaign-specific.

  • They do not affect the Compliance Centre list and cannot be seen or edited by other campaigns.

📌 Note: Only admins can add or remove companies from the agency-wide list in the Compliance Centre. Recruiters can add campaign-specific exclusions but cannot modify the shared list.
