Using the Compliance Centre: Unsubscribes, Bounces, and Suppression

A practical guide to the Compliance Centre in Access Automate Outreach - how to view, manage, and export unsubscribes, bounced emails, and global suppression lists, and how unsubscribe links work in campaign emails.

Written by Terence Cassidy

The Compliance Centre is your central hub for GDPR and email compliance. It covers unsubscribe management, bounced and invalid email handling, and global suppression settings - all in one place. Available from the March 2026 release onwards.

What the Compliance Centre Covers

Area

What it does

Unsubscribe list

View, search, filter, and export contacts who have opted out of emails. Shows source (opted out, manual, imported), scope (global or campaign), and date.

Bounced and invalid emails

Tracks email addresses that have hard bounced or been flagged as invalid, preventing future sends to those addresses.

Global suppression

Add addresses or domains that should never receive emails, regardless of campaign. Overrides all campaign settings.

Accessing the Compliance Centre

  1. Log into Access Automate Outreach.

  2. Navigate to the Compliance Centre from the main navigation menu.

  3. The dashboard shows your unsubscribe list, bounce list, and suppression settings in separate tabs.

Managing the Unsubscribe List

View and Search

  1. Go to the Unsubscribe tab in the Compliance Centre.

  2. Use the search bar to find a specific email address or contact.

  3. Use the filters to narrow by source (opted out, manual, imported) or scope (global, campaign-level).

  4. Each record shows the email address, source, scope, and the date it was added.

Add Contacts Manually

  1. Click Add Contact in the Unsubscribe tab.

  2. Enter the email address and select whether the suppression is global or campaign-specific.

  3. Click Save. The contact will no longer receive emails matching the suppression scope.

Import in Bulk

  1. Click Import in the Unsubscribe tab.

  2. Upload a CSV file containing the email addresses to suppress.

  3. Map the columns as prompted and confirm the import.

  4. Imported records will appear in the list with source shown as Imported.

Export the Unsubscribe List

  1. Click Export in the Unsubscribe tab.

  2. The list will download as a CSV file, including all fields (email, source, scope, date).

📌 Note: Exporting your unsubscribe list is useful for keeping your CRM or external email tools in sync with your suppression data.

How Unsubscribe Links Work in Campaign Emails

Every campaign email must include an unsubscribe link. This is enforced by the platform — if you save an email template without an unsubscribe merge tag, a warning will prompt you to add one before using it in a campaign.

When a recipient clicks the unsubscribe link:

  • They are taken to a dedicated unsubscribe confirmation page.

  • They confirm their opt-out in one click.

  • The platform automatically adds them to the suppression list.

  • For PDL-sourced leads, the same page includes an option to opt out from People Data Labs directly.

  • If the contact is synced with Vincere, the unsubscribe status updates in Vincere in real time.

⚠️ Important: Unsubscribes are processed automatically — you do not need to manually update suppression lists when a recipient opts out via the email link.

Understanding Suppression Scope

Scope

What it means

Global

The contact will not receive any campaign emails from your organisation, across all campaigns.

Campaign-level

The contact is suppressed only from a specific campaign. They can still receive emails from other campaigns.

📌 Note: Global suppression takes precedence over all campaign settings. A globally suppressed contact cannot be included in any campaign.

🤔 FAQs

Q: What happens if I launch a campaign and a contact on my list has already unsubscribed? A: The platform checks suppression lists before sending. Contacts who are globally suppressed or suppressed from that campaign will be excluded automatically — no emails will be sent to them.

Q: Can I re-add a contact who has unsubscribed? A: Yes, but only if you have a valid legal basis to do so (e.g. the contact has re-subscribed). You can remove a contact from the unsubscribe list manually in the Compliance Centre. Exercise caution and ensure this is compliant with applicable regulations (GDPR, CAN-SPAM, etc.).

Q: Are bounced emails handled separately from unsubscribes? A: Yes. Bounced and invalid email addresses are tracked in a separate list within the Compliance Centre. Hard bounces are suppressed automatically to protect your sender reputation.

Q: Will unsubscribes sync back to Vincere? A: Yes. If a contact unsubscribes (or re-subscribes) in Access Automate Outreach, the change is reflected in Vincere in real time, keeping subscription status consistent across both systems.
